A Michelin Star SF Restaurant with the Most Supple and Juicy XLB and Shen Jia Bao! Dumpling Home, located in a corner spot in the Theater District, brings in waves of hungry customers all around SF and the Bay Area. The restaurant initially opened in 2020, but quickly earned a Michelin star for its renowned juicy and supple selection of the classic XLB and Sheng Jian Bao.
Dumpling Home: Recommendations
We personally enjoyed their Sheng Jian Bao the most between the two soup dumplings. It offers a thick and supple wrap that they cook nicely crisp to perfection. Furthermore, they balance this with the right amount of pork filling and plentiful soup. Both the XLB and the Sheng Jian Bao were the juiciest soup dumplings I’ve ever had in the Bay. The soup was packed with tons of flavor. On top of that, they also have the numb & spicy XLB if you want a bit of a kick to your soup dumplings. If you’re not too keen with pork, the restaurant also offers a chicken alternative to its Sheng Jian Bao. It’s definitely worth the trip even if the parking in the area is not the most convenient.
Other Recommendations
Other than the soup dumplings, there are a variety of selections of dumplings and dishes that are just as delicious if not more. One of our recommended dumplings to try is the pork dumplings with sesame sauce and chili oil. We only tried it out of curiosity, but we were instantly hooked with the flavors, especially since we’ve never had anything like it in the Bay. We also highly recommend trying out their Dan Dan Noodle, which they packed with sauce and a peanut flavor. It’s one of the dishes we love coming back for, in addition to their Sheng Jian Bao.
If you’re looking for a new place to try out in SF, we highly recommend visiting Dumpling Home. There’s a reason the restaurant received a Michelin star and tons of high reviews from its customers early since its opening—with its food and flavors at the forefront of their success. Since then, the owners of Dumpling Home have expanded and opened a new location in Fillmore St. called Dumpling Story. Although it may not have any unique specialty dim sum that other places capitalized on to expand, their classics are top notch and highly sought after by the locals and foodies alike.
