Daeho Kalbijjim: An Overview
Daeho Kalbijjim, commonly referred to as Daeho, has locations in San Francisco, Milpitas, and San Mateo. They serve one of the best and most authentic Kalbijjim (braised short ribs) in the entire Bay Area. If you have never tried Kalbijjim before, it is the pinnacle of comfort food and a night out with friends or family. At Daeho, their signature Kalbijjim can feed up to 4-5 people with its large portion sizes, so be sure to bring some friends along. Recently, the store started offering a smaller portion for 2-3 people for those that do not want to get the full portion.
We have been to Daeho numerous times and we must say: it is the place for special occasions. While not every family likes to throw a party or just wants somewhere to go eat out, Daeho is the perfect place. Their Kalbijjim consists of tender meat options, from braised beef rib to oxtail and tendon. In addition, they have multiple add-ons to fit everyone’s palette such as rice cakes, glass noodles, and more. To top it all off, the torched cheese on top really brings the whole dish together. We highly recommend this dish as one of our favorite Korean dishes out there.
Other Options from Daeho
If Kalbijjim doesn’t pique your interest, Daeho also serves multiple types of soups, bibimbap, cold noodles, and more. There are more than enough options to satisfy everyone’s cravings. One recommendation we have besides the Kalbijjim is the Beef Brisket Point (Chadol), a type of Ox Bone Soup. The soup is hearty and warm and really pairs well with the Kalbijjim if you are looking for an extra dish. The dish comes with the tender beef brisket and thick glass noodles which bring the dish’s flavor together. All in all, this is our #2 recommendation from Daeho.
